By visually displaying important dates related to different cultures, heritage calendars encourage people to learn about historical events, traditions, and achievements of diverse communities. They help to recognize and celebrate underserved groups, promoting a more inclusive society by highlighting their contributions and experiences. Exposure to a heritage calendar can foster a better understanding and appreciation of different cultures, breaking down stereotypes and promoting intercultural dialogue. By sharing and discussing the information on a heritage calendar, communities can come together to celebrate and learn from each other's backgrounds.

JUNE
JUNE-A MONTH OF STRENGTH, RESILIENCE AND PROMISE
In June 2025, there will be several heritage months recognized, including Caribbean American Heritage Month and LGBTQ+ Pride Month. Additionally, Juneteenth, a holiday commemorating the emancipation of enslaved African Americans in the United States, is observed on June 19th. June is also National Immigrant Heritage Month, Black Music Month, Filipino Heritage Month. Additionally, the US department has just designated June as Title IX Month as well. - Pride Month: Pride Month honors the 1969 Stonewall Uprising in Manhattan, New York City, a pivotal moment in the LGBTQ+ rights movement. Pride Month is a time to celebrate LGBTQ+ individuals and their contributions, and to raise awareness about the challenges they continue to face.
- Caribbean American Heritage Month: Observed in June to celebrate the history, culture, and contributions of Caribbean Americans to the United States. It was first recognized by President George W. Bush in 2006 according to the National Archives (.gov).
- National Immigrant Heritage Month: Established in 2014, this month honors the diverse contributions of immigrants and their descendants to the United States.
- Black Music Month: This month recognizes the significant impact of Black music on American culture and history.
- Filipino Heritage Month: This month celebrates the rich cultural heritage and history of Filipinos.
- Title IX Month: Recently designated by the USDOE on June 2, 2025, Title IX Month marks the 53rd anniversary of Title IX, a landmark federal law that prohibits sex-based discrimination in education programs and activities receiving federal funding.
