ACCESS for ELLs 2.0® and Alternate ACCESS for ELLs®
ACCESS for ELLs 2.0 is a standards-based assessment that is aligned with the WIDA English Language Development Standards and assesses each of the four language domains of Listening, Speaking, Reading, and Writing. ACCESS for ELLs 2.0® is a secure large-scale English language proficiency assessment administered to students in grades K-12 who have been identified as ELLs or ENEs. It is administered annually to monitor students' progress in acquiring academic English language and is only available to Consortium member states.
Alternate ACCESS for ELLs is an English language proficiency (ELP) assessment administered to students identified as English learners (ELs) who are unable to meaningfully participate in ACCESS for ELLs 2.0 because of significant cognitive disabilities. This paper-based assessment is given annually in WIDA Consortium member states to monitor student’s progress in acquiring academic English.
