    EAT PLAY LEARN PVD is a nationally recognized initiative that provides Providence students and families with access to healthy food, outdoor play, skill-building, and creative engagement all summer long! 

    Learn more about exciting summer camps and outdoor programs through organizations including Providence Recreation, community meal sites throughout the city where students up to 18 years old can find a free daily lunch, find year-round learning opportunities through city programs, community programs and libraries, and summer job opportunities for teens with both the City of Providence and community-based organizations through the City's Office of Economic Opportunity.

    KidsBridge Summer Learning Program 

    Inspiring Minds’ KidsBridge Summer Learning Program is a Kindergarten readiness program for Providence five-year-olds who have not yet had high-quality early learning experiences. KidsBridge is free and runs from July 7- August 15, Monday through Friday, 8:30-2:30. Students learn school routines and expectations as well as early literacy, math, science, and art in a fun, play-based, high-quality early learning environment. Since Kindergarten transition is a family experience, parents and other family members participate in ongoing parent engagement events, workshops, and celebrations!     ELIGIBILITY: To be eligible for this program, your student must be attending Kindergarten this Fall, age 5 on September 1. Priority is given to students who have not attended preschool and are registered for Kindergarten in public schools.

    Providence Public Schools Elementary Summer Learning Program

    Providence Public Schools’ Elementary Summer Learning Program is a hands-on learning and enrichment program to prepare students for the next school year. This program serves students going into 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th grade. Breakfast and lunch is served daily to participants. Buses are available to those who register before the May 21st deadline.

    ELIGIBILITY: To be eligible for this program, your student must be going into 1st, 2nd, 3rd or 4th grade this Fall. Students must be enrolled in Providence Public Schools.

    Boys & Girls Club of Providence Summer Program

    The Summer Learning Program at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Providence is a free of charge full-day learning experience offered only at the Fox Point, South Side, and Wanskuck Clubs.
    This program blends fun, academics, enrichment, and social-emotional skill development and is designed to help youth increase literacy and math skills and decrease summer learning loss. Sign ups for this program is for the full session only.

    Federal Hill House

    The Federal Hill House (FHH) program will stem summer learning loss by continuing a focus on literacy and english language development; hands-on experiential learning; and incorporating literature and reading into daily routines. FHH will use the same evidence-based practices as during the school year. A typical day will include circle time and community meetings, structured physical activities, free play, read-alouds, DEAR (drop everything and read) time, hands-on learning activities, table games, and theme-based activities and experiences. The summer program will be led by the site coordinator, assistant site coordinator, and youth development counselors with potential guest facilitators and presenters visiting when appropriate. Activities will be aligned to the student age group.

    Camp Ryse

    Camp RYSE is a free, five-week summer program for refugee youth (grades K-9) in Providence, Rhode Island. Following RYSE’s mission to foster literacy, confidence, and community through hands-on, joyful summer learning, Camp RYSE provides daily literacy and STEM instruction, enrichment activities, and opportunities for growth and exploration in a safe, nurturing environment of diverse staff and youth with shared life experiences.

    SeaPerch

    Middle school summer STEM programs joined forces to engage students in the summer SeaPerch program, which included professional development for teachers provided by Electric Boat, along with robot-building kits for students at no cost. Electric Boat and RoboNation have organized competitive events for Providence Public Schools District middle school students. These events feature obstacle courses where student teams maneuver their underwater robots, showcasing their technical prowess and collaborative spirit. This initiative fosters excitement and innovation among students, while also enhancing teamwork skills. Daily transportation and meals will be provided.


    ELIGIBILITY: To be eligible for this program, your student must be going into 6th, 7th or 8th grade this Fall. Students must be enrolled in Providence Public Schools.

    Generation Teach 

    The GT STEAM Academy (GTSA) is a free 5-week summer academic acceleration program for students entering grades 5-8 in fall 2025. College and high-school students teach small, fun-filled classes including engineering, law, reading, and math, as well as afternoon enrichment such as art, sports, and finance. Free breakfast and lunch are served daily. Fun Fridays feature field trips, team competitions, and games. Free bus transportation is provided from local middle schools. Enroll at www.gtsteam.org.     High School Credit Recovery

    The High School Credit Recovery initiative is designed to provide students in grades 9–12 with the opportunity to earn credit for courses they previously did not pass. Through this program, Providence Public Schools offers students access to rigorous, engaging coursework aimed at helping them stay on track for graduation. The initiative supports academic progress by delivering targeted, motivational instruction that promotes student success.

    By centralizing credit recovery efforts, this program also reduces the financial burden on individual schools and ensures equitable access for all students. Teachers will implement the Providence Public Schools Edgenuity Summer School/Credit Recovery Curriculum to guide instruction and support student achievement. The program will be located at PCTA this summer.

    E-Learning Academy – OAUC Summer Program

    The OAUC program at the E-Learning Academy offers students the chance to continue recovering credits during the summer months. This program focuses especially on seniors, ensuring that all graduating students leave Providence Public Schools with clearly defined college or career goals. The summer session serves as a bridge to postsecondary success by providing structured, flexible, and supportive learning opportunities tailored to individual student needs.

    DownCity Design

    DownCity Design's 6-week Summer Design Studios engage 50 Providence youth in grades 9-12 (2025-26) in intensive design learning as they build new skills, explore careers, and create service projects for community groups.

    There are two program strands for Summer 2025: Design/Build Studio and Creative Change Studio. In both programs, participants work with real-world clients, such as non-profit organizations or municipal agencies, who present our young designers with authentic challenges that can be addressed through design.     New Urban Arts

    New Urban Arts in Providence, Rhode Island offers a variety of summer programs for high school students. These programs include the Summer Art Inquiry, Student Team Advisory Board (STAB), and College Explorations. Youth receive $400 stipends, and lunches, snacks, and bus passes are provided at no cost. Additionally, New Urban Arts collaborates with The Avenue Concept (TAC) to facilitate a utility box painting project, guiding youth in completing 14 boxes during the spring and summer.     PASA

    PASA’s Hub Financial Literacy Camp in partnership with Fidelity Investments, primarily focused on providing Providence youth with the opportunity to earn a stipend and financial literacy graduation credit for participating in a Financial Literacy and Career Exploration camp over a four week period.

    The Princes 2 Kings program

    The (P2K) Princes 2 Kings program at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Providence serves high school men of color encouraging positivity in discovering and exploring self, community and career.  Participants express creativity where they learn skills in culinary arts, create awesome murals, produce anti-gun violence artwork, play basketball and more! Princes 2 Kings (P2K) is a group mentorship program designed to empower teenage boys of color. Through meaningful relationships, exposure to new places and careers, and skill-building experiences, P2K helps youth envision success in their lives and futures. This summer, the P2K program will focus on Civil Discourse—an interactive experience that challenges youth to explore issues of justice, equity, and leadership in their communities. Through group discussions, community exploration, and guided reflection, students will strengthen their critical thinking, communication, and civic engagement skills.
