The Providence Public School District (PPSD) is proud to announce that Donna Marcaccio, fifth grade teacher at the Lillian Feinstein School at Sackett Street, has been nominated for the 2022-23 National LifeChanger of the Year Award. Sponsored by the National Life Group Foundation, the LifeChanger of the Year Award recognizes K-12 educators and school district employees across the United States who make a difference in the lives of students by exemplifying excellence, positive influence, and leadership.

 

Ms. Marcaccio was nominated anonymously by one of her colleagues, who stated that she has the unique ability to make a child want to achieve. Marcaccio’s nominee also says her students always have great things to say about her, and former students approach her outside of school to thank her for encouraging them to read. Ms. Marcaccio also exudes school spirit and participates in extracurricular activities, graduations, dances, and volunteered to coach her school's basketball team.

LifeChanger of the Year winners are chosen by a selection committee comprised of former winners and education professionals. Winners will be announced in early 2023. The selection committee will consider testimonials provided by colleagues and parents of students impacted by each nominee, so providing your support for Ms. Marcaccio is critical.

Each school year, LifeChanger of the Year receives hundreds of nominations from all 50 states and the District of Columbia. Eighteen individual LifeChanger of the Year awards will be given during the 2022-2023 school year:

 

• (1) Grand Prize Winner – will receive $10,000 to be shared with their school/district.
• (4) Grand Prize Finalists – will receive $5,000 to be shared with their school/district.
• (10) LifeChanger Award Winners – will receive $3,000 to be shared with their school/district.
• (1) Spirit Award Winner – This award is given to the nominee whose community demonstrates the most support for their nomination. The winner will receive $5,000 to be shared with their school/district.
• (1) Capstone Award Winner - This award is given to a nominee retiring at the end of the school year. The winner will receive $3,000 to be shared with their school or district.
• (1) Spotlight Award Winner – This award is given to a nominee in a specific discipline each year. The winner will receive $5,000 to be shared with their school or district.

Nominees must be K-12 teachers or school district employees. To be considered for an award, nominees must make a positive impact in the lives of students, enhance their school or district’s culture and pride, demonstrate exemplary leadership, possess a proven record of professional excellence, show commitment to building a nurturing environment that supports student learning, and adhere to the highest moral and ethical standards.

PROVIDENCE, RI – El Distrito de Escuelas Públicas de Providence (PPSD) se enorgullece en anunciar que Donna Marcaccio, maestra de quinto grado en la Escuela Lillian Feinstein en Sackett Street, ha sido nominada para el premio nacional LifeChanger of the Year 2022-23. La Sra. Marcaccio fue nominada de forma anónima por uno de sus colegas, quien afirmó que tiene la habilidad única de inspirar a sus niños a triunfar. También expreso sobre su nominada que sus alumnos siempre se expresan bien de ella, y los exalumnos se acercan a ella fuera de la escuela para agradecerle por alentarlos a leer. La Sra. Marcaccio también emana espíritu escolar y participa en actividades extracurriculares, graduaciones, bailes y se ofreció como voluntaria para entrenar al equipo de baloncesto de su escuela.

Cada año escolar, LifeChanger of the Year recibe cientos de nominaciones de los 50 estados y del Distrito de Columbia. Se otorgarán dieciocho premios LifeChanger of the Year individuales durante el año escolar 2022-2023:

 

• (1) El ganador del primer premio recibirá $10.000 para compartir con su escuela/distrito.
• (4) Finalistas del primer premio recibirán $5.000 para compartir con su escuela/distrito.
• (10) Ganadores del premio LifeChanger recibirán $3.000 para compartir con su escuela/distrito.
• (1) El ganador del premio Spirit. Este premio se otorga al nominado cuya comunidad demuestre el mayor apoyo a su nominación. El ganador recibirá $5.000 para compartir con su escuela/distrito.
• (1) El ganador del premio Capstone. Este premio se otorga a un candidato a jubilarse al final del año escolar. El ganador recibirá $3.000 para compartir con su escuela/distrito.
• (1) El ganador del premio Spotlight. Este premio se otorga a un candidato nominado en una disciplina especifica determinada cada año. El ganador recibirá $5.000 para compartir con su escuela o distrito.

 

Los nominados deben ser maestros de K-12 o empleados del distrito escolar. Para ser considerados para un premio, los nominados deben tener un impacto positivo en la vida de los estudiantes, mejorar la cultura y el orgullo de su escuela o distrito, demostrar un liderazgo ejemplar, poseer un historial comprobado de excelencia profesional, mostrar su compromiso hacia el diseño de un entorno enriquecedor que apoye al aprendizaje de los estudiantes y adherirse a los más altos estándares morales y éticos.
