    New to Teaching?

Resources for Aspiring & Novice Teachers

Starting a career in teaching can feel like an insurmountable challenge. We're here to help you through the process with the help of partnerships with local educator pathways.

Interested in becoming a Teacher Assistant?

Our schools couldn't operate efficiently without our incredible teacher assistants! The dedicated support staff in our classrooms ensure that educators have the academic and behavioral support they need to effectively teach our students. Additionally, our TAs often act as mirrors for our students as they are often local community members, parents, and student teachers.

    Looking to grow?

    Resources for Experienced Teachers

We provide resources, professional development, and career opportunities to support the long-term success of our educators, including loan forgiveness and educators of color networks to support each other through their teaching journeys.

Interested in becoming a Substitute Teacher?

Though we are always looking for new teachers to come to the district, we cannot run seamlessly without our dedicated Substitute Teaching pool. If you are a retired teacher (in or out of the district) or simply want to be in the classroom, we have opportunities for you.

    Diversity in PPSD

The Office of Human Resources is committed to recruiting, hiring, developing, and retaining a racially, ethnically, culturally, and linguistically diverse group of highly effective educators each year. Additionally, the Providence Public Schools Department encourages applications from members of other historically marginalized groups. We continue to focus our efforts to create a more equitable, diverse, and inclusive school district that is reflected in our policies, practices, and workspaces, which in turn will accelerate student learning and achievement.
