GRAPHICS
Instructors:
The Providence Career and Technical Academy Graphic Design/Media Arts Program teaches design principles, image editing, illustration techniques and A/V Production for producing a wide variety of projects for web, print, and video delivery. The Graphics program at PCTA is a school-based enterprise and the program has added digital printing, embroidery, and vinyl cutting. These machines allow students to create custom hats, hoodies, and T-shirts. In addition, the students use software to design brochures and flyers for local businesses and schools. Students also have access to a state of the art digital media studio where they can produce podcasts and learn video production. Upon completion of the program, students can earn course credits for two degree programs: NEIT's Graphic, Web Design and Multimedia program or Digital Media Production, and our program offers various internship opportunities in the industry.

Career Outlook
The PCTA graphics and media arts program will continue to provide industry experiences inside and outside the classroom seeking new internship opportunities throughout the state in the graphic design and media arts field. This is important in order to prepare students for careers in the industry. Overall employment in media and communication occupations is projected to grow 6 percent from 2021 to 2031, about as fast as the average for all occupations; this increase is expected to result in about 68,600 new jobs over the decade. In addition to new jobs from growth, opportunities arise from the need to replace workers who leave their occupations permanently. About 115,800 openings each year, on average, are projected to come from growth and replacement needs. The median annual wage for this group was $62,340 in May 2021, which was higher than the median annual wage for all occupations of $45,760.
