The Science Department as Esek Hopkins Middle School is focused on preparing our students for the 21st Century. Using NGSS standards as our guide, we design our lessons to allow students to develop problem solving skills through the process of inquiry.  Students are given multiple paths to success, from hands on experiments, online simulations, online resources, textbooks and projects. Students form and test hypotheses and develop science reasoning to understand concepts and problems. We have a collaboration with the Brown Medical Pathway Program.  Medical students from Brown University come into the classroom to inspire and teach our Eighth Grade students.  Through this program our students are introduced to the medical field through mini lessons which include hands on exploration for students who are willing to participate.
