Jean Martinez-McDougall
Jean Martinez-McDougall is the Assistant Principal at Harry Kizirian Elementary School. She has been with the Providence Public School District (PPSD) since 2020. Prior to joining Kizirian Elementary School, Jean was the Assistant Principal at West Broadway Middle School. Before transitioning into a leadership role, she worked as an English language learner (ELL) teacher for the District and served as a teacher mentor through Rhode Island School for Progressive Education (RISPE). Prior to coming to Providence, Jean worked as an ELL teacher at Madison Park Technical Vocational High School in Boston and Everett Public Schools in Everett, MA, as well as school districts in Saint Paul, Minnesota and Syracuse, New York.
Jean earned her Bachelor's degree in Teaching English as a Second Language (ESL) from SUNY Cortland in Cortland, New York. She received her Master's in Curriculum and Instruction from Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, Arizona, and she earned a second Master's degree in Educational Administration and Leadership from Grand Canyon University as well. Jean is bilingual in both English and Spanish.
During her teaching tenure, Jean has worked extensively on developing activities and integrating technology to diversity instruction and increase reading levels. She strives to create an inclusive working and learning environment for students and staff. Jean has extensive experience in IEP comprehension and curriculum development matched with relationship building and networking skills.
Jean is excited to return working with elementary aged students within the diverse Kizirian community.
