Why move to a Pre-K through Grade 8 school model?

Research shows that the PK-8 school model creates a stronger school culture and community and deeper relationships between students and faculty that in the end lead to better academic outcomes for students. By eliminating the transition to a new site for middle grades, students build on the support they have had in elementary school during a time of significant change and growth.

The transition to a Pre-K through Grade 8 model in Providence Public Schools is in response to many years of community input asking for change in how the district structures and supports students in Grades 6-8.
