Roger Williams Middle School serves approximately 800 general education students and English learners in grades 6-8, with grades organized into teams to create smaller learning communities. Additionally, the school offers an Advanced Academics program; admission to the program is on an application basis. Roger Williams is one of three Providence public middle schools involved in the national Turnaround Arts program that leverages the arts to increase student engagement. Special education inclusion, self-contained hybrid and behavior programs are offered. School uniforms are optional. Roger Williams also hosts a number of after-school programs through Providence After School Alliance (PASA) and after-school tutorials.
