Kristen Lussier

Kristen Lussier is the current Principal at Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Elementary School. She has worked her entire educational career in the Providence Public School District (PPSD). Before becoming a Principal, Kristen taught first and fifth grade, was one of two Advanced Academics teachers for elementary students, a Magnet Focus teacher at Mary E. Fogarty Elementary School and a Literacy Coach. Before working in education, she was a counselor for children and adults with eating disorders.

Kristen earned her Bachelor's in Clinical Sociology and Women's Studies from Rhode Island College in Providence, Rhode Island. She received her Master's in Teaching Certification, and then returned to the University of Rhode Island in Kingston, Rhode Island to receive her Master's in Administration.

Kristen's philosophy of education is that all students are unique and must have an educational environment where they can grow academically, emotionally, and socially. She works towards creating an environment that is safe, nurturing, and understanding, while providing differentiated, rigorous academic opportunities in order to have students strive to reach their greatest potential. Her vision for Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Elementary School is to continue to provide the supports, both academically and socially, necessary for growth in a well-rounded individual.
