PPSD’s William D'Abate Elementary Achieves 100% SurveyWorks Participation as the District Encourages Responses by April 4
April 2, 2025
PROVIDENCE, RI – The Providence Public School District (PPSD) proudly announces that William D'Abate Elementary School has achieved a 100% participation rate in SurveyWorks – Rhode Island’s statewide education survey. D’Abate is just one of three schools in the state to achieve 100% participation in the three response categories which include students, families, and educators. This accomplishment underscores the school's commitment to fostering a collaborative and responsive educational environment that engages the community.
Currently, over 50% of Providence families have completed the survey across the District. PPSD encourages all families, students, and staff to complete the survey by the extended deadline of Friday, April 4.
SurveyWorks, administered by the Rhode Island Department of Education (RIDE), is a confidential and anonymous tool designed to gather feedback on various aspects of the educational experience, including school climate, communication, and student support. The insights gained from the survey are instrumental in guiding decisions that enhance the quality of education within the District.
"Our schools and programs are better when families and staff inform us of what's working and what can be improved," said Commissioner Angélica Infante-Green. "Community engagement is a pillar of the Providence Turnaround Action Plan which has helped us achieve notable progress in the district. We want to ensure we keep our momentum going and encourage all Providence students, families, and educators to complete the survey and help us shape the future of PPSD.”
"PPSD has made it a priority to listen to our students, families, and staff—SurveyWorks helps make that possible," said Superintendent Dr. Javier Montañez.
"I am very proud of the team at D’Abate Elementary School who exceeded our expectations in getting responses from 100% of their school community. The feedback from this survey helps guide strategic planning and decisions that benefit our schools every day. It helps us to see where we are getting it right and where we still have a lot of work to do to improve."
"We made this a true schoolwide effort to ensure we received constructive feedback —and I couldn't be prouder of our families, students, and staff," said D'Abate Principal Brent Kermen. "When people feel heard, they invest even more in their school community. That's exactly what happened at D'Abate. "
SurveyWorks is open to all students in grades 3–12, families, and school staff. Each school has its own unique code for families, which has been shared through school communications and is available upon request.
"Every voice matters, and it's never too late to be heard," said PPSD Chief of Family and Community Engagement Carina Pinto de Chacon. "This is your chance to make sure your school hears directly from you."
The survey takes approximately 10–15 minutes to complete and can be accessed online at: www.ride.ri.gov/surveyworks
