Title-IX-EEO

Title IX is a federal civil rights law passed in 1972 that prohibits sex-based discrimination (including pregnancy, sexual orientation, and gender identity) in education programs or activities receiving federal financial assistance, ensuring equal opportunities for all students, including in athletics.  The preamble to the Title IX law states:

"No person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance."
