Office of Legal Services

The Office of Legal Services provides legal counsel and representation to the Providence Public School Department, advising both the Providence School Board and the Superintendent on matters within their respective legal responsibilities. The Office supports the Department in areas including governance, education law, labor and employment, collective bargaining, policy development, legal compliance, contracts, litigation, procurement, student and personnel matters, and compliance with the Rhode Island Open Meetings Act and Access to Public Records Act.

Working in close partnership with the City Solicitor's Office, the Office of Legal Services helps ensure the Department receives coordinated, timely, and effective legal guidance. Together, they support sound decision-making, minimize legal risk, and promote transparent, accountable governance in service of the Providence Public School community.
