Welcome
Dear Parents/Guardians:
Welcome to Roger Williams Middle School, a school with a vision of becoming nationally recognized for excellence in education for the 2006-2007 school year. The Roger Williams staff and I are extremely excited and filled with anticipation for this new school year.
One of the reasons for the excitement is because this year we have a modified schedule. The purpose of the schedule is to allow for Common Planning Time for our teachers. Common Planning Time is a very important part of our program this year. It gives the Roger Williams teaching and learning community the opportunity to discuss the best instructional practices, issues concerning our student and to find the best ways to meet the goals of our POP (Providence One Plan).
The second reason for the excitement is that Roger Williams is going to become an After Zone in the Providence After School Alliance. This means that after school, three days a week, students will have the opportunity to participate in a variety of after school programs here at the school. The PASA programs are scheduled to begin at dismissal and last until 4:00 p.m. Transportation will be provided for students who participate in this program.
Last year we had our first NECAP test. NECAP stands for New England Common Assessment Program. This test is very important as our schools progress is based on how well we do on this test. This year the test will be given from October 3rd – 24th. I will be sending home more information about the test along with some helpful tips on how you can help your child prepare for the upcoming test.
I would like to take this opportunity to invite all of our parents to be active participants in their children’s education and to become partners with the Roger Williams’s staff and administration. If you can not join the P.T.O. please attend our meetings. Notices are sent home with the students informing parents of when the meetings take place.
Finally if you have any questions, suggestions, or concerns, please let us know. You can contact the school at 456-9355 and ask for a teacher or a guidance counselor. If you need an administrator you can contact Ms. Zawadi J. Hawkins, Assistant Principal for the sixth grade class and the special education students or Mr. Robert Perkins, Assistant Principal for the seventh and eight grade classes. I look forward to a great school year as we work together to make Roger Williams Middle School a nationally recognized middle school for excellence in education.
Sincerely, Rudolph A. Moseley, Jr., Principal

Yearbooks are due to arrive the last week of school. |
Yearbooks are due to arrive the last week of school. There are approximately 28 yearbooks left that we need to sell. If you want to purchase a yearbook, the price is still $20; however, only cash is accepted at this point. You will receive a receipt upon payment. Thank you for supporting the yearbook throughout the year by allowing students to come into your classroom and take pictures and for purchasing your very own 2007 yearbook.
