| Reporting Suspected Child Abuse & Neglect | ||
| In accordance with Rhode Island, any person who suspects that a child has been subjected to abuse shall immediately notify the school principal, who will in turn notify the appropriate individuals in Central Administration and the Rhode Island Department of Children, Youth and Families. | ||
| An abused child is defined as follows: a child whose physical health, mental health, or welfare is harmed as a result of the actions, or inactions of a parent, sibling or other person responsible for the child’s welfare. Types of abuse include excessive corporal punishment; a risk of physical or mental injury; sexual abuse; failure to provide adequate food, clothing, shelter or medical care; failure to provide supervision or guardianship; and abandonment or desertion. |
