MISSION
The graduate of the Providence Academy of International Studies will emerge as young adult with a keen awareness of local and international political, economic, and cultural issues; and a deep understanding of how these issues affect the human condition, at home and abroad. |
VISION To guide and direct students during this period of emerging adulthood, along the path that will lead them towards becoming productive and caring citizens in a complex and interdependent world, as they successfully complete high school and continue their studies in a post secondary or otherwise rigorous setting.
To provide students with a rigorous college preparatory program of studies designed to allow students to not only acquire knowledge in math, history, science, fine arts, technology, and physical education, but to use that knowledge, coupled with strong communication skills, to effect change and improve the human condition.
To provide students with a course of study that includes world studies and the study of various cultures, as the means to develop global awareness and a keen understanding and respect for diversity.
To provide students with experiences and models that will help them to embody the disposition of good global citizens such as: civility-respect for others, individual responsibility, self discipline, a willingness to place the common good above personal interest, open-mindedness, compromise, tolerance of diversity, patience and persistence, and compassion and generosity towards others.
To provide a safe and secure learning environment built on a foundation of mutual respect, trust, and collaboration.
To provide students with a learning environment that encourages students to become more confident and persistent, and give them the opportunity to develop strong written and oral communication, critical thinking, analytical, and technological skills. |
