| Dance I |
Introduction to Dance The course is designed to introduce students to basic concepts in the dance discipline, while relating to the students self-knowledge and dance's cultural meanings. Students will learn three dance techniques - jazz, modern, and ballet, learn about the value of dance as communication,and they will learn about the importance and influence of dance to a society. |
| Dance II |
Dance II This course is designed to give further experience in dance as an art form, while continuing to increase self-knowledge and self-expression. Students will continue to learn about jazz, modern, and ballet dance techniques, and learn the basic methods of choreography. PREREQUITES: Successful completion of Dance I or equivalent experience. |
| Dance III and IV |
Dance III & IVThe course is designed to give further experience in dance as an expressive art form, while continuing to increase self-knowledge and self-expression. Students will learn a more comprehensive knowledge of dance technique. They will also learn about the synthesis of the elements of dance communication from the realms of dance history, aesthetics and choreography. PREREQUITES: Successful completion of Dance II. |
| Dance Elective |
For Grades 9-12 This course is designed to introduce students to basic concepts and techniques in the dance discipline. Students will become knowledgeable in varied dance techniques, including but not limited to jazz, tap, modern and ballet. They will develop the ability to use dance as a means of self-expression and gain an understanding of the value of dance as communication |
