| Arts I |
Arts I is the foundation level for art study through high school. This course is primarily devoted to various art processes, therories and historical developments. Students will have experiences in producing two and three dimensional art work. The course emphasizes the study of the elements of art and principles of design, vocabulary in a studio environment that supports problem solving and decision making. |
| Arts II |
Arts II builds on the students technical skills and foundation of knowledge developed in Art I. The study of the elements of art and principles of design, vocabulary and art history continues with increasing opportunities for independent exploration. Various art processes procedures and theories are presented in a problem solving manner which allows for individual choices and personal solutions. The approach to art experiences is based more on informed choices. Student research of art and artist is a major source of gaining knowledge and understanding of the part and present art forms. A greater flexible and fluent use of the elements of art and principals of design is stressed. |
| Arts III |
Arts III builds on skills from Arts II with a more in depth approach to the study of art processes and techniques, aethetics issues, art criticism and art history. Students form goals, become familiar with careers, and develop work habits of professionals. Knowledge of the arts in relation to you: cultue, history, other disciplines and careers will be promoted through visual verbal and writen means. There will be a heavy emphasis on observational drawing to support student success on post secondary goals. Students will formulate a personal philosophy of art that will be supported by a portfolio basesd on technical quality, personal style, direction and its intended purpose. The portfolio will be further developed. |
| Arts IV |
Arts IV students develop, clairly, and apply their philosopphy of art and art making throu in depth independent and advanced explorations with media, techniques, processes and aesthetics. Exceptional initiative, serious involvement and commitment are expectations of the Art IV student. A portfolio evidencing high quality, a broad base of k owledge and in depth understanding of personal art forms is developed and refined. To furth support that development of a high level of creativity students will be offered opportunities for career placing with college visits and presentations as well as workshops and field trips. Students will be required to take part in planning and installing an exhibition of their work. |
