Mission Statement
The mission of Central High School is to create a safe, nurturing and respectful community; to provide a rigorous curriculum that fosters academic success, cultural awareness and responsible citizenship; and to prepare students for post-secondary education, careers, and lifelong learning

VISION
Central High School is a large urban campus with a comprehensive high school curriculum, and has a student population of 1,600. It's population houses a demographically diverse population of Hispanics, African Americans, Asians, Whites, and Native Americans. The school has 134 classroom teachers as well as an additional 30 itinerant and counseling staff. The bold standards-based system of accountability for teaching and learning has resulted in significant improvement in state assessments for Central High School students.

Central High School is composed of three buildings. The main building was built in the 1920's, and serves as home for academic programs. The Hanley structure was built in the 1950's and is the vocational compliment to Central High School and houses career/technical programs. The third structure houses the Central High School cafeteria and gym.

In the future Central High School will become three autonomous small schools of 500 students. The goal of the proposed redesign is to establish small schools that personalize instruction and make significant links with parents of Central High School and the community. The Hanley School will focus on Career and Technology; School One will feature Legal/Government studies; and School Two will integrate Marketing/Banking education into the curriculum. Each independent school will work to shape a distinct vision and mission for its own community that is in tune with the overall redesign and district standards. Central High School is committed to creating three small schools in which every student is equipped with both the academic and social skills necessary to meet future challenges.
