Welcome to Asa Messer/Annex School where we serve a diverse population of over 540 students in grades Kindergarten through 5. At Asa Messer School, your children will be challenged to achieve the national standards as they participate in an exciting literacy and math program.
Through Balanced Literacy, our students are involved in a rigorous program that exposes them to the world of literature. By experiencing the works of many well known authors, for example, children will not only learn their skills through phonics but also through quality books, poems and articles in which their thinking and reasoning abilities will be cultivated.
The Math Investigations program encourages children to learn about math through the use of games and manipulatives. Children have fun while learning skills and problem solving. They even learn elements of algebra and geometry without even realizing it!
Asa Messer School’s partnership with the Mental Health and Rehabilitation Hospital allows us to celebrate our students of the month with a special luncheon and gift. Our connection with Brown University affords us the opportunity to offer Drama, writing and tutorial clubs. Students are encouraged to participate in a math problem of the month as well as a weekly literacy challenge. Students, who participate, receive certificates and awards.
Asa Messer School students love to come to school as evidenced by their 95% attendance rate. At Asa Messer, your children will experience a close, nurturing environment in which the teachers and staff know every child by name and hold the belief that all children can succeed.
