Welcome to Alfred A. Lima Elementary School!
Our school implements instruction in two languages - English and Spanish. This type of instruction is called Two-Way Bilingual. We study reading, writing, math, science, and social studies in Spanish and in English. This is how we learn content in two languages.

What is Two-Way Bilingual education?

• integration of English dominant (Spanish Language Learners, SLLs) and Spanish dominant (English Language Learners, ELLs) students

• all students are considered second language learners

• all students receive instruction in and through two languages (Spanish and English)

What are the features of Lima’s Two-Way Bilingual instruction?

• two-way instruction begins in Kindergarten

• expands on a yearly basis

• Kindergarten students receive native language instruction for half their day and second language instruction for the remaining half of the day (Two-Way 50/50 model)
