Robert Bailey's Bailey Buddies Program

School-Wide Behavior Support Team
Bailey's School-Wide Behavior Support Team is one of our strongest tools in helping to strengthen both the academic and social successes of our students. At the beginning of the school year, each teacher receives a DVD showing student behavior expectations. These expectations are also clearly delineated in individual student handbooks that are distributed with a contract page that is to be signed by each student and their parent/guardian and returned to their classroom teachers. This team has also implemented programs such as the Bailey Buddies, Quarterly Award Ceremonies, and Student of the Week.

Children's Crusade Program at Bailey Elementary
The Rhode Island Children's Crusade is currently in its fourth year at Bailey Elementary School. The Crusade program motivates students to stay in school, maintain grade-level standing, and serve as positive role models for younger children to follow. Family engagement and participation is a vital component of all aspects of the Crusade program as students progress from elementary school through high school.

YMCA 21st Century Community Learning Center at Bailey Elementary
The YMCA program at Bailey school provides before and after school care for students in grades kindergarten through fifth. As part of this program, students can participate in enrichment classes such as:

*Girl Scouts
*Garden Club

*Boy Scouts
*Painting for Boys

*The Human Machine
*The Science of Movement

*Library Day
*Computer Club

*Junior Achievement
*Health and Recreation

*Homework Club
*Weekend Warriors

*Kindergarten Club
*Centers

*Olympic Craziness
*Let's Explore Providence II

*Kidzmath

Parents are always welcome and encouraged to accompany their children to participate in these activities. The YMCA staff also holds special events, such as "Pajama Parties", where students in this program change into pajamas and before their parents can take them home, they must read a story together.
Many parents from the Toyota Family Literacy Program have children in the YMCA and are always encouraged to share in the learning!

All YMCA staff members are CPR trained and certified in behavior management. Mainstream teachers (teachers at Bailey), work with the YMCA in the creation of new and exciting classes for our students!

Student of the Week and Month
Each week and month, our school recognizes outstanding students from each classroom. The students' names are announced to the entire school on Fridays over the loud speaker and they are rewarded with special gifts. To earn these honors, students must:
*have perfect attendance for the week or month
*follow the rules and expectations of the school and classroom
*complete all work
*show respect to others

Awards Ceremony
Each quarter, students are recognized and rewarded for their outstanding achievements in behavior, academic areas, and itinerant classes. Bailey awards select students with an evening ceremony, in which families of these students are invited to attend. Such awards are distributed for:
*Math Achievement
*Reading Achievement
*Good Conduct
*Library/Physical Education/Music/Art/Health
*Most Improved
