Lima Elementary

Welcome to Alfred A. Lima Elementary School!

Our school implements instruction in two languages-English and Spanish. This type of instructions is called Two-Way Bilingual. We study reading, writing, math, science, and social studies in Spanish and English. This is how we learn content in two languages.

Nuestra escuela ofrece instrucción en dos idiomas-inglés y español. Este tipo de instrucción se llama Programa Bilingüe de Dos Vias. Estudiamos la lectura, la escritura, las matemáticas, las ciencias y los estudios sociales en español y en inglés. Es asi que nosotros aprendemos los contenidos en dos idiomas.  

Mission Statement
In order to prepare our students to integrate into a global community of the 21st century, the teaching and learning community at Alfred A. Lima Sr. Magnet School envisions that upon completion of the 6th grade, all children will achieve grade level standards as they develop into life-long learners with fluency in both English and Spanish, within an environment where everyone demonstrates leadership qualities, cultural awareness, and mutual respect. 

Alfred Lima
Alfred Lima, Sr. was the first black police officer in the City of Providence. He was sworn in in 1947.
