Each July, Providence Teachers have an opportunity to select their teaching assignment for the following school year at the District's annual Job Fair. Vacant positions are posted at the Job Fair and teachers bid based on their seniority.
Teachers can register for the Job Fair in the Office of Human Resources in the spring. New teachers hired into the system may be required to participate in Job Fair because the job into which they were hired was not offered to teachers at the most recent Job Fair. This can happen when a new position is created after the Job Fair or when a teacher holding the position resigns or retires after the Job Fair. If you have been hired into such a position, you will be notified prior to the Job Fair next year that your position will be offered by seniority at the next Job Fair and that you must attend the Job Fair to select an assignment for the following school year.
