Providence Schools Facility Master Plan Phase I As presented at the School Board workshop on Monday, April 2, 2007, the Providence School Department announced that it will seek School Board approval of a Facility Master Plan Phase I. The components in Phase I are based on the overall recommendations for the district’s school facilities made by educational planning experts, DeJong Inc., to Mayor Cicilline and Superintendent Evans earlier this academic year. The Superintendent will be seeking approval of the Phase I components of the plan at the School Board meeting on Monday, May 14, 2007, although he will not be seeking approval for specific school building projects at that time. The School Department also proposed to involve parents and the community in discussion of the Phase I components with a focus on the proposed engagement plan, prior to requesting School Board approval of Phase I on May 14th. Four communities were suggested that exist around projects listed as proposed for Phase I, as well as being in different stages of consideration for project development: Nathan Bishop Middle School, Feinstein Elementary at Broad St., West Broadway Elementary and a new Career & Technical Education Facility. The community groups are being formed now and the meetings will be held in late April and early May. For the dates of these meetings please click on the "Meeting Dates" link to the left. If you are a parent, teacher or community member interested in participating in these community group discussions, please contact the principals of the schools listed above, or the School Department at 278-0592.
